<image:title>About Dr. Jeannine</image:title>
<image:caption>Dr. Jeannine Cicco Barker (she/ella) practices from Philadelphia, where she was born and raised. She is Xicana, Latina, and she is deeply proud of her Indigenous ancestry (Cora & Mexica). She is a licensed psychologist in PA & NY, and holds authority to practice in all PSYPACT states. She is also a board certified art therapist as well as a practicing artist, primarily focusing on oil painting, printmaking, and mixed media. She grew up in South Philadelphia in a low income/working class, multicultural family. Her mother, an immigrant from México, and her Italian American father instilled social justice values in her from a very young age. From childhood, she was involved in community work with her family, including aiding at a soup kitchen organized by her father for many years. Activism and care for others have always been deeply personal ways in which she shows up in the world. Dr. Jeannine attended the Philadelphia High School for Girls and received the Philadelphia Mayor’s Scholarship to attend the University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in Fine Arts. She went on to earn a master’s degree in Art Therapy from Drexel University, and then her master’s and doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from Widener University, graduating with top honors, and receiving the Abrams Award for Academic & Clinical Excellence.</image:caption>

<image:title>Therapy - therapy for women of color</image:title>
<image:caption>As a woman of color, Dr. Jeannine is committed to and passionate about the healing of other women and female aligned/femme of center BIPOC. She deeply understands the forces that make us feel unworthy and not good enough, and the ways in which the world harmfully neglects to honor our needs, safety, dignity, and wholeness. With the right therapist, your therapy can become a transformative space for empowerment, healing, and self-love, as reclamation and resistance. Explaining the intersections of race, gender, class, sexuality, and immigration experience is not something you will have to do here. As a non-Black woman of color, Dr. Jeannine is committed to ongoing anti-racist work, including dismantling anti-Blackness and colorism.</image:caption>

<image:title>Name - healing as a sacred practice.</image:title>
<image:caption>Metztli is the Nahuatl name for the moon and the goddess of the moon, and another name for Coyolxauhqui, who was the Mexica (Aztec) goddess of the moon. Coyolxauhqui’s story is powerful, full of symbolism and strength, and has been interpreted and told by Xicana feminists. Gloria Anzaldúa writes about Coyolxauhqui as encouraging a praxis in healing our fragmented selves, caused by the harm we endure from trauma, oppression, colonialism, and displacement. Coyolxauhqui reminds us that healing and wholeness is an ongoing process, our birthright, sacred, and necessary. Dr. Jeannine is proud to honor her Ancestors with her practice and work. <image:title>fees</image:title>
<image:caption>fees Dr. Jeannine does not accept insurance in her practice and is private pay only. Please see below for more information. Individual Therapy: $220 per therapeutic hour (50 minutes) Couples / Relationship Therapy (2 people): $250 per 50 minute session There is an additional one-time assessment fee for the relationship assessment process ($39). Family Therapy (2-4 people): $250-265 per 50 minute session (family therapy offered to adults and children ages 16 and up) Late cancellation / no show policy: Because I reserve time and space for you in my practice and schedule, I hold a standard 24 hour late cancellation / no show policy. Any cancellations without at least 24 hour notice, or any no shows, are charged the full session fee. Other information regarding fees: These fees are based on what is usual for psychologists (doctoral level) with my level of experience, education, and training in moderate cost of living areas in the U.S. You can receive a superbill if eligible for reimbursement according to your insurer’s policies (see next section below). Reduced fees for those with financial need: In order to make my services more accessible, I have a set number of openings in my practice for reduced fees for individuals from lower income backgrounds who are facing financial hardship, using a scale that I can share if requested. At this time, all reduced fee slots are full and will be for the foreseeable future. If a reduced fee or sliding scale option is needed, please visit Open Path Collective For therapy scholarships and funding, visit: The Alejandre Foundation (via Latinx Therapy) Please note that Dr. Jeannine is unable to see Therapy Dinero awardees in her practice as she is on the Advisory Board of the Alejandre Foundation and it would be a conflict of interest. The Loveland Foundation (for Black Girls and Women) FEDUP Collective (for Trans and NB folks) Mental Health Liberation (for BIPOC individuals) Consultation & Trainings: Vary, packages and proposals are custom designed. Please contact Dr. Jeannine to discuss your needs and for a custom proposal.</image:caption>
